I grew up in western Canada and spent the first 25 years of my life being cold. Despite the bitter winters, I really was fortunate to grow up in beautiful, wide, open spaces with all kinds of critters (and enough mosquito bites to last a lifetime). After high school, I detoured veterinary medicine for awhile and worked as a legal secretary for 7 years, which really just served to finance my active interest in showing my horse and German Shepherd dogs. Like Canadian geese, one by one my family started migrating south to California and when it was my turn to trade in the snow drifts for palm trees, it was the right time to switch gears and go back to school to finish my original intent of studying veterinary medicine.

I had great mentors along my academic road who not only helped guide me when my goal seemed too far away to be realized, but also stressed the importance of maintaining a balanced life with a good sense of humor. My love for horses pulled me strongly towards large animal medicine, but ultimately it was the challenge of small animal medicine that became more appealing to me, so now I get my horse kicks in my spare time whenever possible. When I met the Adobe group I really felt like I had just walked into a very comfortable pair of shoes-- a perfect fit-- at I have thoroughly enjoyed working here since graduating from vet school in 1999.

Outside of work I enjoy gardening, hiking, cooking, and soaking up the sun (still trying to thaw out from my childhood, I think). I have two dachshunds, Olivia and Phoebe, who are a constant reminder to me not to take life too seriously. The rest of my pet population has grown to include two cats, Dunno and Chester; four chickens, Gladys, Ginger, Vern and Betty; and a pond full of koi and goldfish.
