I grew up in Santa Barbara, California and I am the first person in my family to attend college. As a child, I became focused on becoming a veterinarian and volunteered many hours at the local humane society and animal shelter, often taking care of the sick animals. I earned my bachelor’s degree, while working full time as a veterinary nurse, from UC Santa Barbara and then attending UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. The following year, I completed a rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego where the large emergency and specialty caseload gave me valuable experience in stabilization and treatment of the emergency patient, emergency surgery and critical care.
From there, I continued my dream of practicing high quality emergency and specialty veterinary medicine on the west coast when I moved to Santa Cruz and joined the team of veterinarians at Pacific Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service where I stayed for 11 years! In 2015, I made a brave decision to branch out from my first ‘family’ in veterinary medicine to become part of the dedicated team of professionals at Adobe Animal Hospital. I have truly enjoyed getting to know my coworkers and clients and feel grateful to be part of this amazing hospital. I continue to have a special interest in emergency surgery, enjoy challenging critical care cases and have found a recent interest in medical acupuncture for animals. While I am not working hard saving animal lives, I can be found almost every weekend in the mountains pursuing my love of ‘enduro’ style mountain biking, hiking or heading to the beach with my dogs for a game of soft bite Frisbee or surfing. I am passionate about the environment from the mountains to the oceans. I also still enjoy training my border collies Pyro, Ari, Wiki and Raad for USDAA and AKC dog agility and have competed on both the local and national level since the time that I was 13 years old.
