Changes to Overnight Urgent Care and Hospitalization at Adobe Starting Jan 14th

Adobe Animal Hospital is committed to adjusting our services based on the needs of our clients and their pets. As part of this commitment, we will be offering more routine and same day urgent appointments starting Friday, January 14th.  We will be reducing our overnight services to accommodate this change.

Due to staffing shortages and a desire to rebuild our team to better serve our clients, our Los Altos location will no longer see walk-in or emergency cases after 5pm. This change starts on Friday, January 14th. Our overnight doctors are moving to day shifts so we will have more appointments available to serve a larger number of our clients each day. We will still be open for urgent care and emergencies Mon-Sat 7am-5pm & Sun 8am-5pm (we may stop receiving patients before 5pm if we are at capacity) but will not be available for any walk-in or emergency cases after 5pm

We will not have a Doctor in the hospital after 9pm each night. Non-critical patients that are hospitalized during the day may stay overnight with our ICU nurses to continue their treatments and medications. Patients with life threatening conditions will need to be transferred to a specialty or emergency hospital before 9pm. We will stabilize critical patients, then facilitate a transfer to the closest hospital that has the capacity to take additional critical patients.

Adobe South Bay continues to be available by appointment only. They do not offer any walk-in services.

When Possible, Call First

We recommend that you call our hospital before walking in for urgent or emergency services to check our capacity level. If we feel that it is in the best interest of your pet to be seen at another emergency hospital, we will direct you there.

Our walk-in service Mon-Sat 7am-5pm & Sun 8am-5pm will continue to be limited to true emergency cases. We will not see pets on a walk-in basis if their illness does not warrant emergency care.

    • If your pet is ill and you think they need to be seen urgently, please:
    • Live Chat with an Adobe Staff Member or call 650-948-9661to discuss the situation before walking in.
    • For common or minor health issues, our Video Visit service is a great option for pets who have been seen by an Adobe doctor within the last year

3. We will temporarily stop taking in emergency cases if our emergency service is overwhelmed. If we have more patients waiting then we can see in a timely manner, we may have to refer you to another veterinary emergency center in the area.

4. We do not see the following species, except to provide humane euthanasia:

    • Birds, including chickens
    • Reptiles
    • Farm Animals
    • If one of your pets is in this category and is currently under care at Adobe (we’ve seen your pet in the last six months), please talk with your veterinarian about how to arrange care moving forward.

We realize these new changes are very impactful to Adobe pet parents and any new clients trying to receive pet care. We strongly feel these changes are in the best interest of our patients and team to ensure we can continue to provide first and foremost, the best quality care possible to you and your pet in a timely manner. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly. We will continue to keep you updated on changes and when we will resume these service offerings again.

Below is a list of other emergency hospitals in the Bay Area that you can contact on an emergency basis. Please call before heading to their location, as they might also be at capacity.
